Too many unforced errors by Torpedo
The Petrovac players made too many mistakes in the game. It’s like they tried to complicate the simple game system that was set up. And again they managed to beat themselves and allow the opponent to materialize all their advantages. Even the English rugby team does not play in its own 22 meters because it knows that if it loses the ball, it gives the opponent an opportunity to score a try or kick a penalty from a favorable situation. Just such a situation happened in the 18th minute of the match, when Torpedo successfully executed alineout in their own 22 meters. Instead of the ball reaching the shooter, who would have pressured the Dinamo defense with a good shot, the ball reaches the midfielder who, without support, dunks in the middle of the Pancevac defense. Of course, the guests win the ball a little outside the 22 meters. Then they carry out a quick punishment, Petrovčani are not disciplined and move too slowly. Judge Marko Žeravica judges a new penalty ten meters closer to Torpedo’s tryline. Pančevci execute a penalty and with quick passes the ball reaches Nemanja Lazić who had no difficulty scoring an try on the wing. Milan Kuzmanović converts the try for a 7-0 lead.
Now we will quote the journalist Predrag Strajnić’s way of commenting, which annoys us while we watch handball. Instead of clearing the danger in 22 meters with a good shot, an try was conceded and now it’s 7-0 for the opponent. All kidding aside, there were a lot of technical and tactical mistakes made to win the game. If you want to win the game, you must be disciplined enough, follow the game plan and listen to the coach’s instructions. Also, the editorial office undertakes to buy a couple of sprays and, during the winter break, paint Petrovac na Mlava with graffiti “Hands to the ball” and similar subliminal messages in order to reduce the number of ball drops in open play.
Strong ball cariers from Torpedo
Petrovčani have big, strong, fast and penetrating players in the scrum. And they know how to take advantage of that when they get the chance. What’s more, their entire game plan is aligned with the weapons they have in their arsenal. They especially stood out in the pick and go game, where Dinamo players had difficulty defending. In 26th minute, they really proved how dangerous they can be in breakthroughs, when they came close to Dinamo’s tryline, where Aleksa Atanasković picked up the ball from a pick and go and scored a try. Marko Živković successfully converted the try to tie the score at 7-7.
Then Petrovčani in 35th demonstrated for a minute how to best use the dominant scrum. They won a scrum in front of Dinamo’s goal, who decided to push to the end, two meters from the goal line, Stefan Janković opens a fast ball to the closed wing, where Aleksandar Savić was running full speed, who scored a try to give his team a 12-7 lead. A well built action that maximized the advantage Torpedo has in physics. Proof that patient and collective play within the plan brings results.
Ivan Voštić MVP
Now we can already say that Ivan Voštić is a standard national team player. A player who is very fast, who has excellent technique, which, along with excellent reading of the game, makes him a very dangerous player for the opponent. He cooperates extremely well with Kuzmanović, with whom he forms a killer tandem. Ivan is a player that you must never leave a lot of space because he is incredibly fast, changes direction quickly, sidesteps well, uses a tampon as well as a fake pass as a feint. The Torpedo players could see for themselves in the 39th minute when Dinamo took a penalty outside the home team’s 22 meters. The line broke hard and pulled, after which the scrum made one phase in line with the posts to tie up the Torpedo players, after which a quick pass went to the line where Voštic inserted himself as a defender between the center and the wing, received a quick ball, performed a fake pass feint and scored an try near the post. Kuzmanović successfully converted the try for a 14-12 lead.
You always have to be on the lookout for both counter-attacking and quick play from the penalty box when playing against Dinamo. If you slowly return ten meters from the penalty, talk to each other or to the referee, the attack has already started. That just happened in 43th minute of the match. Refferee Žeravica judged the penalty against Torpedo. The ball was quickly brought out and placed towards Voštić, who withstood the contact with the Torpedo player and scored the second try of the match. Kuzmanović is again precise in converting the try for 21-12.
Dynamo's fast game
Pančevci are a very young team that has a considerable number of seasons in youth rugby. Almost all players are educated with an enviable experience in rugby. They had several championship seasons at various ages, so they are smart enough to know that they cannot win duels with Petrovčana, who are a physically superior team. Kuzmanović and the team play very fast, with quick penalties, where they use the opponent’s weaker mobility in retreating during the penalty and positioning on the offside line. When you have aggressive Kuzmanović and Ivan Voštić, you don’t have too many chances in defense if you are not disciplined.

Dinamo’s melee players are just as good in open play as their backs. Except for a couple of veterans, everyone is extremely mobile and can impose a very high tempo of the game. If they judge that they cannot pass you in the defense line, they use a great tactical shot, where they have several excellent shooters with which they can attack the opponent. This is what they used in several situations on the field and thus conquered the territory.
The best example of the explosion and speed of the game was seen in the 59th minute, when the Torpedo player lost the ball in the ruck because he did not have adequate support. Without waiting for a second, Kuzmanović takes the ball, quickly executes a penalty, pulls several defense players on him and executes an excellent tactical shot into the Torpedo defense area. Of course, the whole action was followed by Voštić who, like the wind, bought the ball and scored an essay. Checkmate in two moves, where almost 70 meters of ground are taken in ten seconds. Kuzmanović was accurate in his shot to increase the lead to 28-12.
The scrum game is the Torpedo's dominant factor
It’s no secret that Torpedo managed to perfect the scrum game in the Serbian Championship, which is much more demanding than the B group, where rugby 10 is played. This season was definitely about gaining experience, which is the biggest value that Petrovčani can cash in on in the future. They showed such a game against Dinamo. They were excellent in the static scrum, but they were also excellent in the outfield, from which they could very well develop several dangerous attacks, either with a fast ball or through a minor.
We were especially impressed by the good pick and go game shown by Torpedo. On several occasions, they had the opportunity to try themselves in front of Dinamo’s tryline. The only thing we have to notice is that the sides change sometimes to the left, sometimes to the right, where speed and momentum are lost. In one such situation in the 68th minute, Torpedo attacked Pančevci from a pick and go. Dinamo defended as much as it could, but could not do too much against the physically superior Petrovčani. After several phases, Aleksa Dobrosavljević received the ball from the ruck from Demi and was unstoppable in the penetration and placed the ball between the posts. Živković was accurate in the conversion shot and the score was reduced to 28-19.
When you have a strong and good scrum, then you also have a smooth flow of the ball, which gives you more possession. When you push your opponent into the scrum, you are not only putting pressure on their scrum but also on the line that has to move back, then your line has an advantage in open play. Torpedo managed to achieve that in 76th minute when they won their scrum, the ball then came to the winger who ran almost to the center of the field and changed the line of attack. Then the ball comes to Nemanja Zdravković, who ties two opposing players to himself and uses a great assist to Savić, who had no difficulty in scoring the second try of the match. Živković was confident in his shot and reduced the score to 28-26. Until the end of the match, Torpedo had its opportunities, but did not use them in the right way, so it fell short again in the match with Dinamo.
Sloppy Dinamo lineout
A big problem for the Dinamo players, who are struggling with their lineout throughout the season. They have all the predispositions for a killer lineout, but they don’t seem to use that opportunity. When you have a safe lineout, then you can shoot aut from the penalty and shift the focus of the game to the other side of the field. You also have secure possession. Not to mention how many options and variations you have in attack, which Dynamo’s fast players could really take advantage of. Let’s not talk about the fact that you can also neutralize the opponent’s out by applying pressure. As Torpedo is always close to Dinamo, Dinamo is always close to Zvezda. And our opinion is that the lineout is precisely the segment that should take the lead, a long-awaited breakthrough. Let’s remind you, you can practice the outing during the winter break in halls or gymnasiums, you don’t have to wait to go out on the field.
Discipline
Regular section on our website on all matches. Discipline wins games. Discipline in rugby is not just about not talking to the referee. It’s also the way of the game. Discipline is when the coach calls action from the bench, the captain transfers the decision to the field and the players respect it. Discipline is when the referee calls a penalty against you, you automatically position yourself well and retreat to the ten meter line. Discipline is when you do what the captain and puck leader tell you. Good discipline brings with it good communication in attack and defense. When someone makes a mistake in an attack, you should not swear or curse them, you need to get back into the game system as soon as possible. The team that manages to control the discipline has a better chance of winning the game. Especially when we have an uncertain match like this one.
