Vojvodina up to the task
The tournament was at a very high level. We can say that from the point of view of someone who has been to a large number of tournaments and matches, both domestic and foreign. Organizing a beach rugby tournament is quite a challenge, it is necessary to involve a large number of people within the organization. The people from RC Vojvodina succeeded in this, they maintained the tradition of playing tournaments on the sand and even more importantly, they continued the tradition of holding the “Luka Marin” Memorial on the 16th .
The tournament also had an international character where two clubs from Montenegro participated. RK Arsenal from Tivat, which defended the cup won last year, and RK Budućnost from Podgorica. Great rugby players showed themselves in the right light and showed that excellent rugby is played in Montenegro.

In total, 9 teams took part in the tournament, out of the planned ten. The competition system remained unchanged, only fewer matches were played. The same groups remained as announced.

The triumph of the Barabarians
An excellent tournament by Baraberijens, who ended up taking 1st place and decorated their showcases with the cup. In the final, we had the opportunity to see a very interesting and competitive match against the Arsenal team from Tivat. By the way, Barbarians are a team made up of players from several clubs, and it is a tradition in rugby that such teams are called Barbarians. Ours changed the name a little because they wanted to be like Barabe.
A well-deserved triumph, although we must say that it would have been deserved if the boys from Tivat had also won.
Vukašin Vuković returns the title to Novi Sad
Vukašin suffered a very inconvenient leg injury at the first tournament of the Serbian Rugby Championship on the 7th. After an unpleasant injury, he had an operation and we wish him a speedy rehabilitation and that he finds himself on the field as soon as possible. However, that gentleman was secretly preparing for another competition. Namely, after the tournament, in the third half, a beer-drinking competition is traditionally held. And there, Vuković showed that he is a serious competitor in that field as well and won very easily.

We don’t know where to start. Strand is a well-maintained swimming area that is well taken care of. There you will not find uncut grass, wild plants, garbage, chaos and scum anywhere. Everything looks very nice and well cared for. Also, there is an entrance fee of 50 dinars, so you don’t have a lot of wild people screaming uncontrollably. As far as we are concerned, it is the best swimming pool in Serbia. When a tournament is organized at such an emst, it gives you a boost, because you have a fantastic atmosphere.
All matches were played on sand volleyball courts. You had natural shade all around the field. Where there was no sun, there were parasols. There were stands for spectators. If you wanted to refresh yourself, you could buy a raffle ticket with a free drink. If you didn’t want to buy a ticket, you had a large number of cafes where you could sit. However, the main base was the cafe Orkus, where everything happened and where the rugby players mostly sat. If you wanted something to eat, you could order food anywhere on the Strand.
The tournament lasted all day, so you could take a break whenever you wanted to cool off and take a dip in the Danube. After that, come back, order a drink and continue enjoying the rugby. As far as we’re concerned, it’s an ideal day to spend on the beach, with rugby, where you have everything you need. Real enjoyment with your favorite sport.
Positive atmosphere
Tournaments on the sand are always accompanied by a positive atmosphere for the reason that there is not too much competitive charge. But even where it is there is a friendly atmosphere and everything ends in the spirit of rugby. The competition lasts the whole day and from morning to night you are outside, on the beach, enjoying yourself, playing rugby and hanging out with the rugby players. How can that not be good? It is all these that we have listed that are the main motivation for people to play sports, where rugby is portrayed as a fun activity, which it is after all.
A large number of players who are not active took part in the tournament
We’ve counted at least 20 very famous faces who haven’t played competitive rugby in a long time. And we are very glad to see them at rugby again. Who knows, maybe someone wants to try out in senior rugby, where the competition in the B group is very attractive, or maybe join a team in the A group. It’s fantastic for us that someone is back in rugby again. And what better timing than a tournament on the sand, all in the year of the World Cup.
