RK Borac once again raised the ladder of the organization
We say that almost every time, and it’s already becoming one of the clichés of rugby. But what to do when it really was like that. When time flies quickly at a rugby event, it can only mean that a good time was had and that everything went according to plan and as it should. That’s exactly how we felt at Borac, we had everything we needed to enjoy rugby.

And on the field, we were greeted by music, refreshing drinks and a more than good mood. Although the day was very difficult, it was extremely hot with very little wind, we felt very comfortable in the shade where the perfect conditions for socializing were created. Veteran gatherings involve stepping into a rugby time machine, where rugby events from all eras are recounted. One of the more popular topics is when the best rugby was played in this area.
When you ask a veteran rugby player when the best rugby was played, he will say in his time and add that the younger generations have no idea of rugby and life in general. But then you ask someone even older, he will tell you the same thing. You might think that playing the best rugby is some kind of rugby eldorado. But don’t worry, we’ll try to demystify the problem and come up with a solution, so you’ll be armed with the knowledge for one of your next tournaments. Everyone remembers their best years, which of course were the twenties and early thirties. It’s not nice for anyone to be in the fifties. And everyone will glorify the period of time when they were young and will remember it fondly.
The match between the home team and the guests

The competitive and artistic program included one game played between the home team and the guests. The agreement was made to play three parts of 10 minutes each, that is a total of 30 minutes of rugby. Maybe it seems a little to you, but the weather conditions did not allow more, although the veterans were physically quite ready.
Players from Sisak, Zenica and Mamuti +35 performed for the visiting team, while rugby players from Borac, Dinamo, GRK Vršac and Dorćol performed for the home team. A total of around 50 players took part in the match. If we have left someone out, we will be happy to add them later. After each part, there was a break for water and refreshments.
Zeravica MVP
Honestly, we did not expect such a tough game with very strong defenses. Usually, veterans die in the beauty of good moves followed by not-so-controlled screams. From such moves there are likely situations, where essays are achieved. That was not the case here. Believe it or not, the defensive line of both teams was almost perfect, even the best senior teams in the region could envy them. We were especially surprised by how the line players of both teams closed the space on the wings.
And then Marko Žeravica entered the scene, who first defended the almost certain try of the oposite team. In the third part, he successfully realized the incredible action of the home team for a lead of 5-0. What Predrag Strajnić would say: “Instead of 1-0, the result is 0-1”. Until the end of the game, there were no chances, so to the joy of all the referees, Dejan Stiglić blew the whistle for the end of the match.

Third half
After the match, a banquet was held in a tavern on Borac. As always, Starcevci proved to be exceptional hosts. The closing ceremony was also held, where Radovoje Ćosić thanked all the guests. Team representatives as well as deserving individuals received special gifts from the Borac Starčevo rugby club. After the official part, the rugby players enjoyed dinner and live music. The rugby camaraderie won (we’re addicted to rugby clichés).

See you in Starčevo next year as well.
