14th Rugby veteran tournament
The international veteran tournament in Starčevo will be held on the 14th of august . The tournament takes place as part of the event “Days of Friendship” and represents one of the foundations of veteran activity in Serbia. The tournament now has a great tradition, where participating teams plan their participation months in advance, because it is known that the tournament is played on the first Saturday of August.
General information
In order for you to enjoy the tournament as much as possible, we have tried to collect some important information that will help you spend your day in Starčevo as comfortably as possible. What you need to know is that the tournament is played on Saturday the 6th. of August, starting at 5:00 p.m., on the rugby field in Starčevo. The field is located near the City Stadium in Starčevo and has large rugby posts.
There is a parking lot near the stadium that is free, if the parking lot is full, pay attention to whether Starčevci have opened a parking lot near the south side of the stand, if not, you can always park somewhere in the marked places in the city center. Plan your trip and try to arrive a bit early to find a spot near the stadium.
What you need to know is that the event is pet friendly and you can bring your pet, of course make sure it is on a leash so that it doesn’t disturb the match. If you keep a snake or alligator as a pet, we suggest that you do not bring them.
Be careful as high temperatures are expected on Saturday. Although the tournament will start at 17:00, it will be very hot. The good thing is that there is a lot of shade around the field where you can take shelter, it is not a bad idea to bring a cap or a hat, and be sure to have some refreshing drink with you. Participants, competition system and match schedule
A large number of veterans from Serbia and the region are expected to participate. According to the information we received, rugby veterans from Sisak (Republic of Croatia), Zenica (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Belgrade (Mamuti 35+, Žarkovo, Dorćol, Zemunci), Pančevo (Dinamo), Vršac (GRK Vršac) should run to the rugby field in Starčevo, and native Starčevci. If we left someone out, we will add them later.
The schedule of matches will be determined on the spot and specifically will depend on the number of veterans who will take part in the tournament. We assume that there will be more than one match, but we will wait for the start of the tournament and the official schedule.
Also, the match “Women vs. Chosen Ones” will be played. At first we thought that the women would play a game against their husbands, but they would get a certain game where we can already say that the women would triumph convincingly. However, the clarification we received is that the ladies choose who to play against, we assume they are looking for a bigger challenge as they easily defeated the fat veterans last year.
Tournament program
The gathering of veterans and the draw should be just before the start of the tournament. The start of the first game is scheduled for 17:00. After the tournament, the third half awaits us, which we assume will last until late at night. The popular goulash is expected as well as live music. The organizers have also announced some surprises, so it will be extremely interesting.
