U16s enter the uncertain final of the Serbian Cup │ TOP 10 players

Last weekend, the third Serbian Cup tournament for U16 cadets was held in Pancevo, as part of the rugby day. It was a fantastic atmosphere that all rugby fans could enjoy.

RK Dinamo 1954 made sure to provide fantastic conditions

The last time we had these conditions at domestic competitions, it was those final weekends, if anyone remembers. Back then, the fields were fantastically arranged, excellently marked. There was a lot of activity around the field, so the audience could enjoy the matches undisturbed. This is exactly what we were able to experience at the City Stadium in Pancevo. The terrain was exceptionally arranged, impeccably marked. Everything around the field was in order. You could sit in the stands and enjoy the refreshing drinks you had to buy from the club. The players had a tent on the field where they could rest. If everyone organized sports events in rugby in our country like this, where would we end up?

Three teams in the U16 Cadet competition playing rugby 10

Не можемо рећи да је ситуација идеална јер имамо само три екипе у такмичењу. Even less is the format of a rugby 10s competition. But that is our current reality. Until a year ago, we played rugby 12, so due to the reduction in the number of players, we decided to play rugby 10 for the U16 cadets. It is played as a tournament, which is the only realistic option for our situation. However, what is very pleasing is the level at which certain players are, as well as the level of rugby. We can’t say it’s top-notch, but it’s very promising.

However, the biggest problem is the number itself. And that is the number of players who belong to the cadet generation, namely the players of the class of 2007 and 2008. Players born in 2009 also have the right to participate in tournaments. and they very often complement the teams. Now it’s almost the end of the season, and 1st of September, the years change according to age categories. So the older cadets who are in 2007 age to move to juniors. When we look at the structure of players by age, there are not too many players who were born in 2007. year, the class of 2008 is more numerous.

Keeping the team and attracting new players, especially in the younger categories, presents itself as a broad question and a big enigma, with some incredible reasons why kids don’t want to train rugby or why they stop. We need to find and see how to attract new players, especially in these categories. To do this successfully, we need to prepare a strategy well and plan our steps. The whole picture of cadet rugby would change if this team got 10 new players and if another team joined the competition. And considering the current situation, it’s not a big deal.

Cadets are absolutely capable of playing 15’s rugby. And you need to plan and go for it. If we aim for that level, we must direct our entire strategy towards it. Likewise, 4 tournaments in 3 or 4 months of the season is very little. Likewise, 4 tournaments in 3 or 4 months of the season is very little.

Dinamo broke the dominance of work and remained in the race for the Serbian Cup

Since only three teams were in the tournament, only three games were played. In the first match, Dinamo was more than confident against a weakened Rada team. To make things worse for the people of Belgrade, Aleksa Milanković got injured and was absent for the rest of the tournament. Nemanja Adžić was unstoppable. Mateja Caran was very fast and directed the game well. Brothers Grozdići and Krčadinac worked a lot in the fields. Pančevci exerted enormous pressure, but Rad’s defense was up to the task. From the moment when Milanković left, the defensive intensity of the Belgrade team dropped. In the end, Dinamo deservedly won 21-0.

In the second match, Rad had problems in the first part of the match against the highly motivated Dorćols, who were reinforced with several players from BRK Crvena Zvezda. At halftime it was 14-12 for Rad. One situation decided the whole match. When the Dorćol player broke through Rad’s defensive line, and when it seemed that he was going to score an essay, but Uroš Vukašinović reached him, beat him, won the ball, ran a counterattack and scored an try. A phenomenal sequence. There were no surprises until the end and the match was completed with a score of 28-12.

In the third and last match, the result definitely does not reflect the situation on the field. Dinamo defeated Dorćol 63-0. Adžić was up to the task, but Dušan Stajčić managed to stop him as the last man in the defense. However, Dinamo is too strong for Dorćol at this moment. When we look only at the scrum of Pancevo, we think that they could also push a senior team.

Table:

The last round will decide who will win the Serbian Cup. Work has an advantage of two points, which is an absolutely compensable deficit. We finally have an uncertain cadet competition after several seasons.

Scorer list

TOP 10 players from the tournament

This is purely our impression. We didn’t want to rank the players, we just chose 10 of them who showed the most at the tournament.

Pavle Pelva

Position: Center, Wing

YOB: 2007.

Club: RK Rad

Comparason: Brian O’Driscoll

One of the leaders of the new generation of rugby players. A player who makes a difference on the pitch. It is interesting that it makes a difference both in defense and in attack. Very fast and explosive, where he doesn’t need too much space to create a scoring situation. He has a very precise shot, we mean both the shot on goal and the tactical shots.

Lazar Grozdić

Position: Prop

YOB: 2008

Club: RK Dinamo 1954

Comparason: Martín Leandro Castrogiovanni

A very promising player who is slowly starting to prove himself on both sides of the field. In attack, he is an excellent option to get into contact, a safe ball carrier who can easily win significant space on the field. Unfortunately, in the younger categories there is not too much room for the poles to show themselves in statics, where we believe they would be at a high level.

Vasilije Nastić

Position: Lock

YOB 2009.

Club: RK Dorćol 1998

Comparison: Jani du Plessis

A very penetrating player who gave defenses a lot of problems. He is explosive and fast and reads the opponent’s defense well, that is why he is very tricky and when you play against him you must not be undisciplined and leave too much space. Vasilije is originally a player of BRK Crvena Zvezda, but he plays for Dorćol in the cadet category.

Mateja Caran

Position: Center, Wing

YOB: 2007.

Club: RK Dinamo 1954

Comparason: Jack Nowell

He significantly accelerated his game, improved his positioning, which further accelerated the transition of the ball in Dinamo’s attack. Very good on both sides of the pitch. He managed the defense of Pančevo well, which can be seen in the result that they did not receive a single point.

Dusan Stajcic

Position:

YOB: 2007.

Club: RK Rad

Comparison: Stirling Mortlock

The only player in the tournament who cannot just pass is Nemanja Adžić. He was exceptional in defensive tasks in both matches. We want to see him more in attacking actions and penetrations because we think he has huge potential. We would love to see when some action is designed specifically for him.

Uroš Vukašinović

Position:

YOB: 2008.

Club: RK Rad

Comparason: Shane Williams

He reads the game very well. It is decorated with incredible speed and terrible explosiveness. Equally dangerous both defensively and offensively. We have already described his range of play best in the text. First came a player who broke through the defense line, then knocked him down, won the puck, then ran a counterattack and scored an try. When you add up the meters run, you get that he ran 120 meters in a sprint, that he successfully brought down a man and positioned himself to steal the ball. Impressive.

Nemanja Adžić

Position: Lock, center

YOB: 2008.

Club: RK Dinamo 1954

Comparason: Michael Hooper

It’s fascinating how Nemalja manages to be dominant for so long. However much you individually work and prepare, it can only be a plus for you, and it can help you further in your career. What is especially scary for the opponent is that the room for development and improvement is huge, so Nemanja can be even better and more deadly. He is currently ranked first in the list of scorers, while he is far ahead of everyone in terms of the number of essays scored.

Aleksa Andrejevic

Lock

YOB: 2008.

Club: RK Dinamo 1954

Comparison: Jamie Heslip

Aleksa grew up quite a bit and became one of the leaders of the Dorćol cadets. Excellent both in defense and attack. A very penetrating player who is hard to stop. We like how he has progressed in the game and think he has huge potential to become a top rugby player.

Aleksa Milankovic

Position: Lock

YOB: 2007.

Club: RK Rad

Comparison: Michele Lamaro

A player who does everything on the field and is everywhere on the field. Unfortunately, he was injured in the match against Dinamo and the game was generally decided there. A player who brings strength and stability to any team. When you play with him you feel safe because you know he’s always there to cover your back. It is no coincidence that the game is at the Serbian Championship for juniors even though he is still a cadet.

Mateja Krčedinac

Position: prop, hooker

YOB: 2007.

Club: RK Dinamo 1954

Comparason: Jamie George

The popular Mata is a modern type of first-line player who, apart from being excellent in statics, is very useful in midfield for his size. He is very intelligent and knows how to compensate for speed with good positioning. He has a great feel for the game and can handle a high tempo. A modern player who is the future of domestic rugby.
